Since 1977, Star Wars has taken the world by storm and created one of the biggest cult followings ever in its nine movie franchise. With hundreds of memorable characters,  cameos and easter eggs throughout the saga and the overall dynamic storytelling, it’s safe to say Star Wars is now a staple of pop culture.

With the recent release of the last of the Star Wars movies, many fans are wondering what to watch next and Disney is looking for the next big Star Wars project that can keep the Star Wars fandom happy. Here are 10 more characters very deserving of their own spinoff show. WARNING: Spoilers ahead.

C-3PO & R2-D2

With the franchise taking place in a span of roughly 60 years from The Phantom Menace to The Rise of Skywalker, it’s hard for characters to be in all the movies. However, these two droids have made an appearance in every movie and have played some sort of role alongside the movie’s protagonist.

3PO and R2 are just as well known as Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker so a show about them would easily gain a following of fans eager to watch the show. Maybe having a show that revolved around their point of view in the events throughout the movies could make for some comical and fresh ways of looking at Star Wars.

Anakin Skywalker (Pre-Clone Wars)

Anakin Skywalker is one of the most understood characters in the entire Star Wars universe and to some fans one of the least favorites. Better known as Darth Vader, Anakin wasn’t always the half-man half-machine Sith lord or the pouty, arrogant Padawan we saw in the prequels. He’s something much more.

A show about Anakin before his ascension to the worst villain in history and a more in-depth look at the teenage Anakin Skywalker could help us look at him differently and gain more respect for him as a hero.

Chewbacca (Prequel Series)

Chewie has always been a fan favorite and a very lovable character due to his comical responses and dialogue between characters.  He’s a giant Wookie with plenty of capabilities but he chooses to spend his time with Han Solo and the rest of the gang to protect the galaxy.

Ever wonder why? A prequel series might answer all of those questions as well as go into more detail about Chewie as a character and the Wookies that made up his clan long before Han Solo and the group.

Count Dooku (Prequel Series)

One of the best characters to come out of the prequel series is the predecessor to Darth Vader. What the movies lack is giving Count Dooku a solid backstory and a look into his life before he became a Sith Lord. We know he’s as a skilled combatant, we know he was Jedi before and also Qui-Got Jinn’s master. But we don’t know anything else.

A show could answer the age-old questions we’ve had on the character and a younger version of Count Dooku could make us fall in love with the character even more.

Luke Skywalker

As one of the most powerful Jedi to come out of the Star Wars Franchise, Luke is a powerful and complex character with a lot of potential for his own show. However, there are some gaps (19 years between Revenge of the Sith and New Hope) and (20 years between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens ), a Disney+ show could help fill in the gaps of Luke and his life.

With an Obi-Wan show already in the works, that might cover Luke’s early life, but many fans also want to know what Luke was up to for 20+ years before the events of the new trilogy. It would make for an intriguing and perhaps action-packed show with answers to questions the movies couldn’t answer.

Rey

The 9th movie left Rey’s story open-ended for another movie but it is highly unlikely we will see it unless we do in 30 years as we did with the original trilogy. Rey was the star of the new trilogy, showing promise and power Luke nor Anakin showed and she made us love Star Wars again with her sense of adventure and knowledge of the force.

Rey like Luke and Anakin was eager to learn to control her power and the ninth movie left a lot of her heritage out as well as put an abrupt halt to her character arc.

We could all agree that we would jump at the opportunity to watch her adventures continue in a spinoff show.

Finn & Poe Dameron

Another character arc that the new trilogy failed to answer. Since their first appearance in The Force Awakens Poe and Finn have been subject to many fan theories and questions about their relationship.

Maybe a Disney+ show about their adventures together and an in-depth look at their relationship (either romantic or platonic) could draw in millions of fans who want to know what will become of the two.

Mace Windu

One of the best Jedi and one of the most popular characters to come out of the prequel trilogy, Mace Windu does not get enough recognition for his power and his anticlimactic end.

A prequel series revolving around a young Mace Windu, living his life and coming up as one fo the best Jedi to date could draw in some fans. The possibilities for cameos from other Star Wars characters like Yoda, Qui-Got Jinn, and others could also add some excitement.

Kylo Ren (Pre New Trilogy)

One of the worst endings to a character comes in Rise of Skywalker where the team fumbled the potential of Kylo Ren as a character. From the unnecessary redemption to the forced romance with Rey, this popular character also died like a punk.

Kylo is an amazing character, with complex backgrounds, powerful Jedi abilities, and the Skywalker blood running in his veins he has so much potential. A show where we see a young Kylo before joining the dark side similar to Anakin in the prequels could help us understand Kylo. Also the battles he would fight and the adventures would make for a great show.

Yoda

Do or do not, there is no try. Yoda made his way unto six of the nine movies, it seems like Yoda’s story was covered in the movies. But at 900 years old, we only just scratched the surface.

Yoda is a fan favorite and as one of the most powerful Jedi to ever live its no wonder he is. With the popularity of “the child” or Baby Yoda, its no question as to whether or not a show about Yoda would do well in the ratings.
