There’s crazy fan theories for every franchise, and that includes these imaginative ones for John Wick. The first film hit theaters in 2014 and introduced audiences to Keanu Reeves’ latest action franchise. He’s responsible for some iconic roles in the past with Point Break and The Matrix, but after years of less successful films, tackling the action-heavy lead role put him back on the map.

The first John Wick kept the story (and budget) small and focused on John’s personal vendetta against the Russian mob, and the simple narrative mixed perfectly with the killing spree he went on. For John Wick: Chapter 2, director Chad Stahelski began to expand the assassin underworld that the Boogeyman is now part of again with the introduction of new Continental locations, the High Table, and the Bowery King (Laurence Fishburne). However, thanks to John’s vague backstory and Reeves’ filmography, fans have not been able to stop themselves from dreaming up some franchise altering theories.

In the latest Screen Rant video, we take a look at 10 of the craziest John Wick theories. There’s some that compare the film to classic pieces of literature and even theorize a spiritual aspect to the film, but those are far from the wildest ones to exist. According to many of them, the John Wick franchise is actually connected to several major films, including some that don’t even involve Reeves. Check out all the theories in the video below:

Out of these ten theories, there are six different films that could potentially be part of the John Wick universe, at least according to the fans. One of the most popular is that Reeves’ newest action role actually takes place in the Matrix. There are also some who believe that this is the result of an alternate timeline from Bill & Ted where Ted has to move to Alaska and complete military training. The Reeves connections don’t stop there though, as others think this could be Johnny Utah’s new and deadly life, while there’s even some who think this is a sequel to Constantine. But, fans have also wondered if it is possible that John Wick is the son of Rambo, and more have suggested that Iosef Tarasov (Alfie Allen) is a grown up version of Kurt Bozwell from Good Burger.

These theories are certainly some of the craziest John Wick theories to exist, and it would come as quite the surprise if John Wick: Chapter 3 confirmed any of these to be true later this year. Despite any potential disappointments that John Wick isn’t a continuation of some of Reeves’ previous films, the movie still looks ready to deliver more incredible action and wrap up this trilogy in style. The first trailer really impressed and made fans even more excited for what could be the final entry in the John Wick franchise.
