Cosplay is a fun weekend hobby (and even profession) that allows people to dig deep into their creative abilities. Not only do they get to work laboriously on costumes, but in the world of cosplay, it’s fun to dream up new characters that aren’t seen in film, television, or comics.

One such method of cosplay is called crossover cosplay. It’s exactly like it sounds like; mixing two different genres of characters into a brand new concept. This usually involves mixing Disney with anime and even Marvel with DC.

Believe it or not, Spider-Man is actually a popular cosplay that people like to get creative with. Sure, they could always cosplay as PS4 Spider-Man, Iron Spider, or traditional Spidey — but why do that when there are so many options to don a never before seen version of our friendly neighborhood hero?

Take a look at these crazy unique Spider-Man cosplays from within divergent spider-verses!

Deku Spider-Man

My Hero Academia is one of the most popular anime series on the air right now. Combined with Tom Holland’s recent rendition as Peter Parker, it seemed only a matter of time before someone geared up in this Spidey suit.

Meet your friendly neighborhood Deku Spiderman. Cruz is a cosplayer base din So-Cal. Judging by his account, he seems to be new to the cosplay game, but he definitely has his Spidey poses down pact!

Into the Disney Verse

A couple of years ago, cosplayer @alainacosplay debuted her Spider-Ariel at D23. It’s a mashup we didn’t know we needed! She was later joined by the rest of the Disney Princess turned Spider-Gal group, aptly named “Into the Disney Verse”. There’s even a Spider Kuzco!

This cosplayer is celebrated for out of the box cosplay ideas. In addition to Spider-Ariel, she’s also worn a Punk Belle, a Black Widow Ariel, and a Pirate Ariel.

Spider-Meme

Even with cosplays based on Marvel designs, it’s still fun to play around with photo ideas. These cosplayers recreated this famous meme with official Spider-Verse characters.

The cosplayers involved are Sarah (Black Cat), Christian (Symbiote), and Trent (Spider-Man). Sarah also has some beautiful shots of her Rapunzel, Harley Quinn, and Starfire cosplays. On Christian’s page, you’ll see some truly out-of-this-world Spider-Man cosplays, and Trent’s Nightwing costume definitely deserves a like!

Black Cat Spider

There are a couple of different versions of the character Black Cat. In Marvel comics, she wears a black latex suit with fur linings. The PS4 version is a little bit different, with a sleek black jumpsuit and an up-d0hairstyle.

Cosplayer Daniela brings us a whole new idea of Black Cat; one where she’s officially a part of the Spider-Verse! The suit is the archetypical Spider-Man design but one where the red and blue colors are exchanged for black and white. The one truly unique touch for this creative Spidey suit is the subtle cat ears on the spider emblem.

Captain Silk

Check out that Spider Shield! A version where Captain America meets Silk of the Spiderverse is surely a crossover that no one will object to.

Neon Spider is a “Baltimore based nerd” and cosplayer. His Captain Silk appears to be the only one on the cosplay market. The suit boasts bold colors that mix in designs from both traditional Captain and Silk costumes. If you want to see some more of Neon’s cosplays, be sure to look at his official genderbent Silk cosplay!

Crossover Spidey

The cold never bothers this Spidey duo! A spider-verse Jack Frost and Elsa would be perfect for facing off bad guys during winter in New York.

Spider-Jack is cosplayed by Dunamis Eloí who has full-fledged versions of both PS4 Spider-Man and Jack Frost. Elsa Gwen is worn by Mandy who also makes a wonderful Rapunzel!

White Widow

The cosplay community brings together the most ambitious and gifted creators. Jamie Tyndall, a comic artist, co-created this original character of White Widow. She’s not officially part of Marvel’s universe, but you can read her entire story through her comic series which is published by Absolute Comics.

White Widow was a huge success in this cosplay community. Besides cosplayers like Kristine Lucille gearing up in the white suit, the Kickstarter for this character raised over $80,000 by almost 1,000 fans!

MJ Iron Spider

You’ve heard of Iron Spider in the comics and the MCU, but what about an Iron Jane? Cosplayer Court with Confidence wears this playful and colorful suit designed by Brandon Gilbert. This cosplayer is known for “using the power of cosplay to inspire confidence and self love!” Alongside her welcoming captions, you can see her other incredible cosplay work such as She-Ra and Ariel.

The idea for Iron Jane was coined by writer Dan Slott with cover artist Alex Ross giving her the official look. The cover art for Iron Jane first appeared at C2E2 in 2016 for The Amazing Spider-Man #15. Since then, this character has become a favorite amongst cosplayers.

Bi-derman

Air Potato Cosplay wears her original Bi-derman in all its glory. Made with vibrant pink and purple colors, this cosplayer created this unofficial Spider-Verse character as a representation of the LGBTQ+ community.

On one of her many inspiring posts in her Bi-derman suit, she says,

“What makes you different is what makes you Spider-Man 💕💜💙”

This cosplayer dubs herself as “Earth’s Mightiest Potato”. Through a quick scope of her cosplay page, you can see that she also makes an incredible Captain Marvel,  Poison Ivy, and Gwen Stacy!

Venom Peach

Yet another Brandon Gilbert design brings us our final creative Spider-Verse concept: Venom Peach. The suit was made for cosplayer Ryuu, an established model in the community. Ryuu’s cosplay history goes way back, but some of her most established cosplayers include Nighwing, Rikku, and Raven.

Combining this pink and white Spider-suit with Princess Peach’s recognizable crown, earrings, and other accessories is a look all on its own. But, of course, Ryuu encouraged her imagination further and decided to pair the suit with some killer platform boots and striking Venom facepaint.
