Geoff Johns has created some of the greatest stories in DC, taking over big names like The Flash, Green Lantern, Justice League, and more. In his latest run, Doomsday Clock, Johns has finally brought in the Watchmen to the main DC universe where all our favorite heroes reside.

This crossover has been teased since Flashpoint and now that we finally get to see characters from two worlds collide and in turn create amazing stories. However, the long-awaited finale left some questions unanswered and left some wanting more. Here are 10 of the top questions the Doomsday Clock finale failed to answer.

The Superman Theory: Will It Play A Bigger Role Moving Forward?

A big part of the Doomsday Clock story was The Superman Theory. The theory states that it is no coincidence that most of the heroes in the world are US-based. It is stated that the US government created meta-humans to combat or fight alongside Superman, therefore causing panic in the world.

As a popular theory among the DC universe, the people of the world no longer trust heroes like they once did and many other countries consider heroes a threat. Like we saw with Firestorm in Russia, his appearance was not welcomed and it almost caused an uproar of the people.

Marionette & Mime’s Child

Marionette and Mime were characters brought into the DC/Watchmen universe by Geoff Johns and were made to closely resemble the Joker and Harley Quinn. When Doctor Manhattan was given the choice to obliterate Marionette from existence, he stopped himself at the last second, realizing she is pregnant.

Manhattan doesn’t stop due to empathy but because the unborn child plays a big role in the future. The end of the story reveals that Manhattan transfers his powers to the child and names him Clark. But what role will he play moving forward?

Will Reggie Long Continue Being The New Rorschach?

One of the biggest reveals in the comics was the return of Rorshach. At least that’s what we were led to believe when we saw an individual with the same mask and attire. After barely failing to kill Ozymandias, it is revealed that Rorshach is not Walter Kovacs but a younger Reggie Long, who is the son of Walter’s old therapist.

After redeeming himself with the help of Batman, Rorshach, along with most of the other Watchmen are transported back and the last we see of Long is him at his old friend’s tombstone.

Why Doctor Manhattan Came to the DC Universe In The First Place?

We know Doctor Manhattan likes to experiment and toy with the universe and with a being as powerful as him it’s pretty easy to do so. One of the unique factors of Manhattan is that he perceives moments in time all at once and although he can’t time travel, he can play roles in the future or past.

In this particular story, he keeps Alan Scott (the original Green Lantern) from finding his lantern and therefore keeps the Justice League of Society from forming and giving a young Superman no inspiration for being a hero. But Manhattan also has ulterior motives so is this the only reason he did this? Are there bigger things at play?

Ozymandias’ Fate

One of the most shocking revelations in the entire story is that all the events that took place in Doomsday Clock ended exactly as Ozymandias had planned all along. In typical Ozymandias fashion, he gloats to Manhattan about the success of his predictions and is transported back to his original earth to pay for his crimes.

His story ends where he is imprisoned in his old office and it is left very unclear as to whether or not he manages to escape or stay in the prison that is claimed to be able to hold him.

Wally West

Wally has had a pretty unfortunate fate in the last few years that have upset many fans. After being completely erased from existence after Flashpoint and then coming back only to be completely forgotten by his wife and family, all the way to becoming a murderer. Lex Luthor reveals the reason Wally came back and reveals all his secrets that to this point had only been known by Barry Allen, Iris West, and a few other characters.

Manhattan reveals the universe had been changed so many times, it had retconned some of its own events and geared the universe to center around Superman. This would explain how Wally West left the main continuity but not the Why.

Will We Ever See Doctor Manhattan in the Main DC Universe Again?

As mentioned before, Manhattan left his powers to Clark, Marionette’s son and seemed to have disappeared. But is this the last of Doctor Manhattan that we’ve seen? It is unclear if Manhattan finished his business with Earth-1 or if he still has plans for the future of the universe.

Could we see a sequel to the story? Is this a one-time thing? It’s still very unclear.

Is Doomsday Clock another Reboot?

It’s no secret that the events of Doomsday Clock have shaken up the DC universe, much like Flashpoint and Crisis on Infinite Earths. Although that was the intention it is unclear if Johns wanted to change up the universe for good or just wanted to contain the story.

We know that the events of Doomsday Clock take place after all of the current DC stories so we might have to wait and see for an explanation.

Who Would’ve Won Between Superman & Doctor Manhattan?

The entire story builds up to an epic battle between two of the most powerful beings in their respective universe. It can be argued the whole reason Manhattan comes to the main DC universe is due to his unclear vision with his confrontation with Superman and even toys around with the hero by changing his fate.

To his surprise, Superman still grows up to be a great hero and the untimely matchup never even happens because Manhattan is inspired by Superman’s heroism. It may have been a huge letdown but it also pays homage to what Superman brings to the DC universe besides his great power.

Will We See A Marvel/DC Crossover In The Future?

Perhaps the craziest and most exciting unanswered question is the events of July 10th, 2030. Manhattan predicts Superman fighting Thor (God of Thunder) and an actual character in both DC and Marvel. But what really gets fans going is the mention of a “Green Behemoth” stronger than Doomsday.

Years after the last crossover, it would be amazing to see a crossover between the two franchises as they have the most prominent superheroes. Teasing Hulk dies might upset fans but it might be a fight for the ages we will never forget. Hopefully, we don’t have to wait 10 years to see it.
