Who doesn’t love the holiday and festive spirit this time of the year? 2019 passed in the blink of an eye. Christmas may have come and gone, but hey, we know that you are still carrying a little holiday weight (Whaddup, F.R.I.E.N.D.S. references!) There’s no better way to bid goodbye to this year and the festive spirit than to get nostalgic about your favorite sitcoms and what they showcased during this time of the year.

F.R.I.E.N.D.S: Still Carrying A Little Holiday Weight
This has to be one of the most iconic quotes, we mean excuses to put forward if you’ve binge-eaten during the holidays. This one comes from Season 7, Episode 12, “The One Where They’re Up All Night”. The group has been summoned on the roof to watch some stupid ‘Burger King comet’, thanks to Ross. Tired after hours of waiting on the roof, Rachel, Tag, Phoebe, Monica, and Chandler call it a night. Joey and Ross stay back.
Meanwhile, Joey grabs the pipe that’s holding the terrace door open and shuts it close. So obviously Ross and Joey are stuck on the roof. Left with no choice to go down, the two go down the fire escape. At one point Ross starts to climb down off of Joey causing the latter to ask, “Oh my, how much do you weigh Ross?” Ross prefers to answer that by saying, “I’m still carrying a little holiday weight.”
TBBT: We Presented Papers
Now, who wouldn’t want to be a part of a family that presents papers on Christmas instead of exchanging presents? In “The Maternal Congruence”, Leonard and Penny are seen decorating a Christmas tree, an activity that makes Penny joyous and feel like a little girl again. Unfortunately for Leonard, he has no such memories. In his family holidays weren’t celebrated but studied for their anthropological and psychological implications on human society.
A shocked Penny asks, “Did you at least give presents”? To that Leonard has to say his family presented papers!

Modern Family: Looook!
In Season 3, “Express Christmas”, the cast realizes they won’t be together around Christmas time, so they decide to celebrate it early. Naturally, everyone assumes their duties and responsibilities and springs into action. Luke is assigned by Gloria to retrieve the ornaments in the attic.
Here’s a little funny something that the language barrier does to Gloria and Luke. As the two of them are looking in the attic, Gloria calls him, “Luke!” To which he replies, “At what?” A pissed off Gloria says, “At what? What do you mean, “at what”? I said, Luke.”
New Girl: White Anglo-Saxon Winter Privilege Night
Ah, Schmidt! There’s a reason we love him so much. Anything Schmidt says or does on New Girl is ridiculously hilarious. In Season 2, “Santa” he’s the quirkiest, besides being a douche to Cece. First off, he says that he doesn’t like to celebrate Christmas. Or as he likes to calls it, “White Anglo Saxon Winter Privilege Night.” He tops it off by saying, “I’m so sick of hanging out with Christians. This is my last Christian Christmas!”

Everybody Loves Raymond: My Next Wife Isn’t Gonna Have Feet
In Everybody Loves Raymond, Season 1, “The Ball”, an in-bed argument takes place between Ray and Debra. Debbie keeps raising her feet in bed, thereby blocking Ray’s view of the TV. Naturally, he hates his side of the bed, because he can’t see properly from there. Debbie asks him if he wants to switch sides, to which he replies, “What, after 7 years? I’ll be all out of whack over there.” An angry Debbie retorts, “Maybe you’ll do better with your next wife.”
“My next wife isn’t gonna have feet!”, says Ray.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine: Induce Labor In Goats
In Brooklyn Nine-Nine, “Yippie Kayak”, the trio, Jake, Charles, and Gina are acting Die-hard IRL. The fourth, Terry is forced to leave his family on Christmas and join them. The interesting thing about this episode is its Die Hard theme.
In this instance, Charles hands over a bottle of ‘Heart Attack Soda’ to Jake. Although Jake loves the carbonated fudge that this soda actually is, he thinks it was banned. Charles explains the situation by saying, “Not in Syria. They use it to induce labor in goats.”
Full House: Try To Be A Little Cuter!
In the second season episode of Full House, “Our Very First Christmas Show”, the Tanner family is grounded at the airport. Their plans to travel to Colorado to see their extended family is thwarted and they are forced to spend the Christmas eve and morning at the airport.
But before they leave the house, poor Stephanie goes through a lot since she thinks Santa would be able to find them in Colorado. As Danny is taping them, Stephanie comes down the stairs and says, “I don’t wanna go on this dumb trip.” To which Danny replies, “Stephanie camera’s running, try to be a little cuter!”
HIMYM: Christmas Is The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year!
Wait till you hear the rest of it. In HIMYM, “How Lily Stole Christmas”, Barney sheds some light on why Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year. Ted asks Barney if he’s doing okay, to which the playboy replies, “I’m fine. My nose is just overflowing with awesome and I had to get some of it out. Now, if you’ll excuse me, the holidays are a time when people are lonely and desperate. It’s the most wonderful time of the year.
The upbeat, preying on women feller doesn’t take into account anything about the holiday, except the fact that people are desperate around Christmas. So they make for easy prey!
The Office: I love you this many dollars worth.
Hands down one of the best Michael’s misquotes from The Office. In “The Christmas Party”, Michael Scott, portrayed by Steve Carell sheds some light on the present-exchanging Christmas tradition. He goes to say that, “Presents are the best way to show someone you care.” Sure, they are.
Here’s where his extraverted, overbearing personality comes in the way and he continues by saying, “It is like this tangible thing that you can point to and say, Hey man, I love you this many dollars worth.”
We’d have to side with Michael on this one, he isn’t completely wrong there, if not right.
Seinfeld: Everybody’s Got Them!
In Season 4, “The Pick” Elaine has a bit of a mishap with her Christmas card thanks to Kramer. Elaine has sent out a Christmas card with a photo of her, which bares her ’nippular area’. Everyone she knows in the capacity of family, work and friends have received this card. Her parents, her boss, her nana and papa, the super of her building, her ten-year-old little nephew, Sister Mary Catherine, Father Chelios, and so forth.
The poor woman isn’t comfortable with hundreds of people getting their own personal shot at her. Jerry comforts her by saying, “What’s the big deal? Hey, everybody’s got them. Look I got em!”
And that’s why Seinfeld is the best!
