The 2004 film, Mean Girls, to this day is still a cultural phenomenon. Celebrities and fans still quote the movie. It is undoubtedly one of the wittiest satires of high school to be on the big screen. For adults, it was hilarious, and for younger kids it was more like a reality T.V. show.

Like anything that has had a ton of cultural influence, people get tattoos that are a nod to this film. There are a ton of characters, jokes, and references so there are a ton of tattoos out there. Here are ten we found worth sharing. Please check out the links to the tattoo artists, as they deserve credit for their work.

Wednesdays

Made by Dolly Tattoos, this is a pretty easy reference even for casual Mean Girls fans. One of the many goofy rules of being in Regina’s clique was that the girls wore pink on Wednesdays. This quote is so loved by fans, that they actually all wore pink on the film’s 10th anniversary (which happened to be a Wednesday).

Dolly’s Tattoos are perfect for Mean Girls fan tattoos, as the UK tattooist is known for making her ink very girly with hearts and pink sparkles.

Girls Who Eat Their Feelings

Done by Alex Rowntree Tattoo, this tattoo refers to a diss from the film. The girls in the clique are unaware of their nickname being “Girls who eat their feelings.” It was a name Janis Ian has dubbed upon them. The only member of the group that we really know in the film is Emma Gerber.

Rowntree has also done tattoos for films like Disney’s Up, Toy Story, and Hercules.

That’s So Fetch

This tattoo was done by Hannah Elizabeth Tattoo.

“Fetch” is a slang term that the character, Gretchen Wieners, uses. She keeps using it in an attempt to make it the new popular word. It made the famous Regina George quote, “Gretchen, stop trying to make ‘fetch’ happen, it’s not going to happen!” As for what fetch actually means, we think it is a short version of “fetching” so it would mean attractive.

October Third

Made by Laurie Caldwell, this tattoo is a reference to the most important date known in the film. October 3rd is also known as Mean Girls Day. This is because of a scene in the movie where the protagonists’ crush asks her what day it is. Well, guess what day it was? This was a big deal for her because it was an excuse to talk to him.

October 3rd is the day where a lot of fans both incredibly devoted and casual often post about this film scene.

Your Mom’s Chest Hair

Done by Lucy Blue Tattoo, this portrait of the character, Janis, is a quote reference as well. It is from a scene in the film where a guy says, “Nice wig Janice, what’s it made of?” She quickly retorts, “Your mom’s chest hair.” Like all Mean Girls quotes, this has made many a meme.

The artist has also done pieces on films like Scream, Nightmare on Elm Street, and Terminator.

Mathletes

A great tattoo for a Mean Girls and math-nerd, this is one of the lesser-known nods to Mean Girls. “Mathletes” refers to the math competition team of North Shore High School. Cady, the main character, is a part of their group. The captain is Kevin Gnapoor. Other characters in the group include Tim Pak and two very minor characters. The cool teacher, Sharon Norbury, is the coach of the team.

Spoiler alert: the Mathletes win the championship in the film against Marymount Prep.

This tattoo was done by Paula Castle Tattoos.

You Go Glenn Coco

This is another tattoo by Dolly Tattoos. Glen Coco is a minor character, but the quote “You go Glen Coco” is a major quote for the Mean Girls fandom. Yes, just one quote made this character a fan favorite. His first appearance in the film is his only one.

He didn’t even get paid, and yet his character stars as one of the most remembered catchphrases from the film. “You go Glen Coco” is said by a kid who comes in dressed as Santa who gives out candy canes. Glen gets four of them.

She Doesn’t Even Go Here

Here is a second tattoo by Lucy Blue Tattoo. The quote was said by the character, Damian Leigh. It is after a girl steps up and gets very emotional about wishing everyone could get along and she could make a cake filled with rainbows and smiles for them all to share.

Part of what made this quote so funny was that Damian was wearing a blue towel/hoodie with sunglasses indoors and looks utterly ridiculous. Also, when it is revealed that the girl does not even go to this school, she runs away. Who was she? We will never really know. That cake sounded really good though, and this tattoo really brought it to life.

Get In Loser

Made by Kassidy Autumn, this tattoo is in reference to the famous film quote “Get in loser, we are going shopping.” Like all else Mean Girls, this was turned into meme content that has lasted us for more than two decades now. The quote was said when Regina’s clique drove up to Cady in a sports convertible car.

As for the gravestone, obviously the tattoo took half of the quote and made it into something more goth. This is asking you to get dead rather than go shopping with your clique.

Grool

This tattoo was done by Alexis Crane.

The word “Grool” was created by Cady by accident. She accidentally said it to Aaron during calculus class, as she was trying to say great but ended up with cool and that turned into “grool.” Its a marriage between great and cool. As awkward as that sounds, Aaron eventually repeats that word back to her.
