Since the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home in December, many fans have been eagerly awaiting news of Jon Watt’s next Marvel project Fantastic Four. With the estimated 2023 or 2024 release, audiences don’t know much about the film yet.

Reports have come out saying that the casting process has begun and, while John Krasinski and Emily Blunt have continued to be fan-favorites for the film, these Redditors have fantastic casting suggestions for the first family.

Rahul Kohli As Reed Richards

Casting the leading man of this group is no easy job, but Redditor HSudev521 has a wonderful idea. Their post envisions The Haunting of Bly Manor’s Rahul Kohli as Mr. Fantastic because “he can play the smart, scientist just as well as the corny family man and the world-worn reluctant hero” easily and deserves the chance to prove his acting chops on a larger scale.

The actor himself is aware of the fans wanting to see him join the Marvel Cinematic Universe and has therefore joked about the role on social media accounts. Many it’s all for fun, but maybe Kohli is genuinely interested in the role as well.

Jonathan Groff As Reed Richards

While this isn’t as popular a choice as Krasinski or Kohli, Reddit user fma_nobody recommends Hamilton star Jonathan Groff to play the role of Reed Richards due to the fact that “he can play the smart yet sometimes uncaring guy Reed is.”

Groff’s extensive history both on stage and on screen highlights the potential he has to shine as a part of the MCU. Though the majority of his film credentials are on television, Groff’s recent part in The Matrix Resurrections showcases that he is ready to star on a larger screen and Marvel is another franchise that could give him that opportunity.

Lily James As Sue Storm

With the recent addition of Pam and Tommy on Hulu, actress Lily James has been in the spotlight a lot these last few weeks. With the new show and her previous works, she’s become a potential fan pick for Sue Storm.

Redditor HSudev521 wants to see James as Invisible Woman because “she has the range the Sue needs and she also looks just like Sue to boot.” The user goes on to describe how James has portrayed a lot of characteristics Sue holds in the comics - such as intelligence, protectiveness and emotional strength - in her career already, making this part an easy transition for her.

Kristen Bell As Sue Storm

Another Sue Storm suggestion comes from Reddit user luckytamer in the shape of The Good Place’s Kristen Bell, the user writing that they would “love to see her mold Susan Storm into her own character.”

Bell’s range from the animated and excitable Anna from Frozen to the titular character and investigator in Veronica Mars demonstrate how adaptable the actress can be. The leap to a Marvel superhero after the productions already under her belt wouldn’t be that difficult of a task for someone of Bell’s capability.

Dacre Montgomery As Johnny Storm

Best known for his role in the hit Netflix series Stranger Things, Dacre Montgomery has quickly become a popular audience choice for the MCU’s Human Torch. According to Redditor BlakeB102696, Montgomery “just oozes that character.”

Johnny Storm, The Human Torch, is known to be a handsome and charismatic individual, which Montgomery has already channeled on screen. In addition, his role in the 2017 Power Rangers film further showcases his ability to act the hero type, making him an even more perfect choice for the introduction of the Fantastic Four.

Dustin Milligan As Johnny Storm

Schitt’s Creek star Dustin Milligan has also become a fan pick to potentially portray Johnny Storm on the big screen. Reddit user NHFC believes that as someone who is an “incredibly funny comedian, dry hunky and gorgeous,” Milligan would be the ideal candidate for the Human Torch.

These qualities are important in casting Sue Storm’s younger brother as they contribute greatly to his popularity among comic book fans, and Milligan has proved he holds these attributes through his extensive number of roles in his work history.

Jason Segel As Ben Grimm

The Fantastic Four wouldn’t be complete without Reed Richard’s right hand man Ben Grimm and Reddit believes that Jason Segel is the man for the role. User seanguay sees Segel as The Thing due to his background of “great voice work” and “good comedic and emotional range.”

Best known for his role as Marshall in the series How I Met Your Mother, Segel has grown in credibility through his list of projects. His works include voicing the villain Vector in Despicable Me, showing Segel would be more than able to deliver lines in a booth if The Thing winded up being completely CGI.

Jason Isaacs As Victor Von Doom

Jon Watt’s Fantastic Four needs a villain for the heroes to team up against and who better than the iconic Doctor Doom? Whoever plays this “very charismatic gray-area” character needs to have a strong and distinctive voice to carry a powerful performance behind Doom’s mask and Redditor RaketaGirl believes Jason Issacs has that voice.

Isaacs’s work in the Harry Potter series as Lucius Malfoy serves as evidence that he is capable of playing the bad guy that audiences still found a way to love, an element that would be excellent for the MCU’s Doctor Doom.

Ryan Gosling As The Silver Surfer

After his on screen debut in the 2007 movie Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, it is very possible to see the MCU’s adaptation of this character sometime soon. Reddit user BambooSound writes that they’d “love to see Ryan Gosling in the MCU and he’d be a great Silver Surfer” because of his history of drama films.

It is not a secret that Gosling’s acting history is extensive and impressive, so to have him add the MCU to his list as the righteous and intelligent Silver Surfer would not be a surprising leap at all.

James Earl Jones As Galactus

Similar to the Silver Surfer, Galactus made an appearance in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, meaning it is very possible for the MCU to adapt this comic book character in their own way. As the great devourer of worlds, this character would more than likely be one that is entirely CGI, meaning a talented voice actor would be needed.

“James Earl Jones as the voice for Galactus is just beautiful,” writes Redditor B102696, and the actor has the credibility to support this claim. As the voice behind Mufasa in The Lion King and Darth Vader in Star Wars, Jones certainly could deliver a memorable performance of the villain Galactus.
