Since 1977, Star Wars has created a cult following of devoted fans who almost consider Star Wars a religion with how serious they take it. With memorable characters and lore, anything Star Wars related is almost guaranteed to be a box office success in one way or another.

With the Skywalker saga coming to an end with The Rise of Skywalker, we are excited about what’s next for the franchise. What if somewhere down the road they decide to completely reboot the series and retell the already amazing story of the galaxy far, far away. Here are 10 actors we would recast with an original trilogy reboot.

Obi-Wan Kenobi

Obi-wan is arguably one of the most well-known characters in Star Wars due to his presence in just about every movie. We first meet Obi-wan in A New Hope when he rescues Luke from the sand people and brings him into the world of the Jedi.

In the prequels, he was played beautifully by Ewan Mcgregor who showed us more of Obi-wan and his impact as a Jedi.

If we were recasting the older, veteran Obi-wan the ideal choice would be Liam Cunningham, who famously plays Davos Seaworth in Game of Thrones.

Like Obi-wan, Davos is calm, collected, and a master swordsman despite his laidback demeanor. Cunningham would bring the same type of energy and mystery to the Jedi master much like he’s done in his tenure in GoT.

Wilhuff Tarkin

Next, we have is the intimidating and evil General Tarkin. Although he doesn’t appear much in the movies, his impact is nonetheless spooky. As a commander of the Death Star before it’s destruction, he ruled with an iron fist and was almost as intimidating as Vader when he walked through the halls.

Someone with a very similar demeanor, being able to scare with just one look is Tywin Lannister, from Game of Thrones. Played by Charles Dance, many don’t even want to be in the same room as him as he instills fear in every way. He would surely make the character his own and intimidate just like Tarkin.

Wedge Antilles

Wedge was a small role in A New Hope but he played a huge role in the rebellion, as one of the most talented human pilots besides Luke. He was one of the few survivors of the Death Star destruction and was acquainted with Luke before joining the rebellion.

As a brash pilot that lets his play do the talking, there’s no better actor than Colin Farrell. Farrell typically plays the smug guy who talks his way out of situations so he would be ideal for Wedge.

With an actor of his caliber, we might be able to see more of Wedge and a backstory to the mysterious character.

Lando Calrissian

Lando became a fan favorite almost as soon as he appeared until he betrayed his friends. He did, however, redeem himself and played a huge role in taking down the Empire once and for all. Although we’ve technically already seen a younger/different actor portray Lando we want to recruit a different face to play the smooth-talking Lando.

To bring out the swagger and confidence that Lando brings with him we can think of no one better than Anthony Mackie. Mackie has played several different characters including comedic and action-packed, so we know he’s got the chops for it.

Boba Fett

Boba Fett is one of the many characters on this list that makes a huge impact on the saga but never even reveals his face. Although he’s not Mandalorian, he has the armor and most likely took the same vow to never reveal his face as we’ve seen from The Mandalorian.

Being masked technically anyone can play him, no matter what ethnicity or gender really. But seeing as he’s played a bounty hunter beautifully in The Mandalorian, Pedro Pascal would play an amazing Boba Fett. As a man of little words, he still intimidates with his actions.

Emperor Palpatine

The mastermind behind it all, Emperor Palpatine hid behind the shadows and was able to manipulate the most powerful Jedi to doing his will. Palpatine was dangerous in many ways, his power, his intelligence, his looks, the dark lord of the Sith was in charge for a reason. Anyone that portrays him most has all these qualities and there is no one better than Stellan Skarsgard.

Skarsgard has been in the industry for a very long time and has gained success as an accomplished actor.

Darth Vader

Like Boba, Vader spends the entire saga in a mask, so pretty much anyone can play him physically. But mentally, someone has to channel the evil, anger, and hatred Vader had at all times. The sheer intimidation and chills people had when he walked into a room were unmatched, which is why he’s one of pop culture’s best villains.

An Actor with experience being a bad guy and shaking people to the core is Jeffrey Dean Morgan. He’s played iconic villains as Negan and knows how to bring the hero to his knees.

His sheer size is intimidating, standing at 6’1’’ and his booming voice could be almost as iconic as that of James Earl Jones.

Han Solo

Han Solo is one of the most well-known characters and that’s mostly due to Harrison Ford’s portrayal. To really nail the role we would need to find an actor who can become the smug and cocky pilot, a man who can bug Leia while saving the world with his loyal Wookie.

A man who can perfectly play the carefree pilot is no other than Miles Teller. Teller has been in some critically acclaimed movies and has stolen the show, proving he is more than capable of taking the challenge.

Leia Organa/Skywalker

The fearless princess that takes matters into her own hands is one of the hardest to replace after Carrie Fisher absolutely defined the role. Leia is very independent and not a lot shakes her, facing Vader and Tarkin. She’s not backing down from anyone and she proves it countless times.

People usually forget that she was technically 19 in the first movie so she was still very much a teenager when she faced death.

An actress capable of showing very similar fearlessness and independence is the 22-year-old Florence Pugh. An actress in high demand, Pugh would have a very good chance of playing the princess and perhaps putting her own spin to the character.

Luke Skywalker

Luke Skywalker is probably the most well known Star Wars character behind Darth Vader. Anyone who takes this role has to not only play a hero but also has to be able to carry a franchise.

There aren’t a lot of actors under 25 that can do that so the task is a little tough. But after his success in his short acting career, we think that 22-year-old actor Asa Butterfield has what it takes to portray the young Jedi.
